All year round on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on request: "The white gold of the mountains" - a guided tour on the outdoor area around the salt mine of Berchtesgaden!

500 years of salt mining in Berchtesgaden - you are offered a guided tour on the outdoor area of the salt mine with crossing a tunnel through an ice age moraine. If all rivers have fresh water, where does the salt in the sea come from? And how did the salt come from the sea to the mountains of Berchtesgaden? The tour is a perfect completion to a visit of the salt mine. It is guided by a geologist.

The meeting point is at the meeting column in front of the entrance to the visitors' mine, Bergwerkstraße 83, 83471 Berchtesgaden. Booking beforehand until 8 p.m. on the evening of the day before is required. The distance is 1,5 km one-way with an ascent of 50 m.

All year round on Fridays from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. (and on request): Over  the roofs of Berchtesgaden - Hikes on the Salt Trail ("Über den Dächern von Berchtesgaden - Wanderungen auf dem Soleleitungsweg")!

Enjoy a panoramic view on Berchtesgaden and the surrounding mountains, learn more about the history of the place and the geological development of the Alps of Berchtesgaden. Discover furthermore the fascinating history of the former wooden brine pipelines, one of the most astonishing works of the art of engineering of its time.

Meeting point is at the "Schlossplatz" in front of the "Stiftskirche", Schlossplatz 2, 83471 Berchtesgaden. Booking beforehand until 8 p.m. of the evening before is required. The distance one-way is 2 km, however including a steeper ascent mainly on stairs (around 80 meters of elevation gain).

Every first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to around 4 p.m. in Bischofswiesen, on the opposite side of the restaurant "Brenner Bräu" (on the car park of the hotel "Brennerbascht"): wine market in Bischofswiesen!

Here you will be offered sparkling and high-grade wine specialities from the partner city of Bischofswiesen – Wölbling in Lower Austria.

Concerts and sound journeys in a fantastic place: The healing salt cave of Berchtesgaden works close together with musicians and therapists. Thus guests of the healing salt cave are offered the possibility to enjoy unique concerts and sound journeys. Almost all of these events were created especially for this place.

In the gentle light of the salt lamps with the pleasant chilly salt air your whole organism will get some peace. Under the salt cupola comfortable loungers with warm blankets are arranged around the shore of the salt lake. These surroundings cause, in combination with the structure of the salt, astounding acoustics.

The WATZ is probably the pub with the biggest choice of beverages in Berchtesgaden. Here you can enjoy not only drinks, but also food - in a Bavarian atmosphere and with Bavarian taste. As well sport events are broadcasted there.

On Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 midday the weekly market in Berchtesgaden, which is always worthy of a visit, takes place. Here regional vegetables, meat, pasta, poultry, bakery produce and much more are offered. Every second and fourth Friday a month you can meet there as well the farmers of the farmers' market of Berchtesgaden.
