500 years of salt mining in Berchtesgaden - you are offered a guided tour on the outdoor area of the salt mine with crossing a tunnel through an ice age moraine. If all rivers have fresh water, where does the salt in the sea come from? And how did the salt come from the sea to the mountains of Berchtesgaden? The tour is a perfect completion to a visit of the salt mine. It is guided by a geologist.
The meeting point is at the meeting column in front of the entrance to the visitors' mine, Bergwerkstraße 83, 83471 Berchtesgaden. Booking beforehand until 8 p.m. on the evening of the day before is required. The distance is 1,5 km one-way with an ascent of 50 m.
