The praline Mozartkugel, which was invented in 1890 by the confectioner Paul Fürst, consists inside of marzipan, pistachios and chocolate hazelnut paste, covered by a chocolate coating. Paul Fürst wanted to create a perfectly round praline; for that, he put the praline on a small wooden stick and dipped it into chocolate.
The original praline - that is named after the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - is still today made by hand in the Café Fürst in Salzburg. This café has a few branches in Salzburg; the main house is located directly at the "Alter Markt" in the old town.
